Every
driver on the World of Outlaws tour
has a small handful of race tracks
they can't wait to visit on the
grueling WoO schedule.
Calistoga Speedway has turned into
one of those tracks for Danny
Lasoski and the Roth Motorsports
Team. Since 1999 Lasoski had
won eight feature events at
Calistoga and collected three
previous Harvest Classic titles, so
needless to say his hopes were high
as the Roth Motorsports hauler
pulled pitside at Calistoga.
"I
love these big, fast half-mile
tracks. Calistoga has been
real good to me over the years and
our team really needed to pick up a
couple wins. We've been
struggling since the Knoxville
Nationals and were in a slump.
The best way I know of to break out
of a slump is to knock off a few
wins," said Lasoski.
The
Roth Motorsports Team did just that
by dominating Saturday's Preliminary
program and backing it up with
winning Sunday's Harvest Classic
finale. Lasoski shot out to an
early lead to hold the point for the
first eight laps. While trying
to put Tim Kaeding a lap down,
Lasoski shot to the outside opening
up a lane for Jason Meyers to take
the lead. "I had the lead
and gave it away. I really
thought I could get a run on TK on
the outside but there was nothing
there. Meyers got by me and I
had to wait for him to hit the
traffic. I tried to stay
patient and run my own race.
It was one of those deals if you got
out of line, you got passed. I
saw an opportunity to slip by Meyers
and I was able to make the
pass. From there I just tried
to take care of my tires,"
Lasoski explained. Lasoski
cruised on to his fifth WoO victory
of the year and his fourth Harvest
Classic title.
With
a brand new Kistler power plant
under the hood, Lasoski was
immediately fast. "Our
car was just awesome! We were
fast as soon as we rolled the car
out of the trailer. Paul
Kistler built us a horse of an
engine to bolt into our JEI
Chassis. With Paul supplying
the power and Barry Jackson building
our race cars, we had a pretty good
package put together for the
weekend. This is really a
tribute to my team. Dennis and
Theresa Roth have given us
everything we need to win and my
guys have worked their tails off to
keep us up front where we
belong. It was great to win a
couple with Dennis and Theresa here
to celebrate with us," said
Lasoski.
Lasoski
is quick to recognize how things
seemed to go their way this
weekend. "We caught some
breaks along the way, that is for
sure. We caught a break with
the pill draws for the Dashes and
getting a shot in traffic to get the
lead back after I gave it
away. You need a little luck
out here but I also believe a lot of
times we are responsible for making
our own luck. Putting yourself
in position to capitalize on good
luck is a huge part of this
game. Everyone did their job
and our results are a tribute to the
hard work," he said.
Up
next for Lasoski and the Roth
Motorsports Team is the Gold Cup at
Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico,
CA. "The Gold Cup is a
huge event on our schedule.
Each year it just keeps getting
bigger and bigger. John Padjen
does a great job with the event and
with it paying $50,000 you can bet
everyone wants to take that trophy
home," he said. Stay
